At Ma Goa Restaurant, my Mother and her team prepare their favourite dishes using family recipes passed down the generations. Our menu takes inspiration from the beautiful palm fringed region of Goa (where my Ma learnt to cook) but also takes influences from other parts of India.
Since its opening in 1993, we have won critical acclaim from many top critics & we take pride in the fact that we are a genuine family-run restaurant. Our mission has always been to serve tasty, fresh, unpretentious home-style cooking in a warm & friendly setting.
Situated 2 minutes away from Putney British Rail & 5 minutes away from East Putney Tube it makes a perfect venue before a night on the town.
We also offer a popular take-away & free local delivery service & a party catering service.
We look forward to welcoming you to Ma Goa soon.

Not the same old same old. Interesting choices, delicious food, pleasant staff, good service and reasonable prices. We'll be back!

Ma Goa never disappoints. Their food is excellent, their service friendly and the atmosphere is relaxing but with the right amount of 'buzz'. A lovely evening

One of the best Indian restaurants in London. Emphasis on South Indian food so different choices to many others and all at a reasonable price.

“Consistency is everything”
[5 of 5 stars] Reviewed 30 May 2013 NEW
I've been back to Ma Goa several times since I last posted a review.
So I thought it was worth another one. Consistency is everything, and Ma Goa is top-notch for this. In many visits, I have never failed to stumble out of this restaurant over-filled with food and completely satisfied, as I wait for the 93 bus up the hill.
What I love about this place is the seemingly endless variety of 'daily specials' (the other night I was treated to some fantastic, almost incendiary, chicken kofta meatballs), and the ever-present sense that while you haven't spent a tiny amount of money, you have experienced fabulous value for the dosh that you handed over when the bill came.
If you visit Ma Goa on a regular basis as do I, you will appreciate the seemingly bottomless pit of new ideas that Chef comes up with. If you go on a one-off basis, I guarantee that you'll want to go back for more.
Brilliant! I'm so lucky to have this place less than 2km from where I live. Say no more.

Ma Goa is quite simply the best restaurant in London if you like inventive, original and genuine Indian food with a wonderful Goan twist. I have eaten here 30 times or more, and will always go back. It's my 'treat' restaurant. I can't recommend it highly enough, it's so far above the average Indian restaurant for quality, and only slightly more expensive.
It's like computers... make do with a cheap Windows thing, or buy a Mac. Ma Goa is the Apple version of Indian restaurants in London. You get what you pay for.

“Curry with a twist”

Was this review helpful?YesHave eaten at this Putney restaurant a number of times and it has been the same great standard each time. Warm friendly family run restaurant that serves great food. Always worth a study of the specials board, only trouble is which one to choose. Will it be the lobster or the lamb shank or possibly the swordfish! That is not to distract from the main menu which also offers a great variety of dishes. Worth making a visit.
Long trip but I wasn't disappointed.
Reviewed April 14, 2013 NEW via mobileI have been a lover of Indian cuisine some 45 years.
My favourite dish became the Vindaloo and have learnt a bit about it. For me, it has fascinating and interesting history.
I have been to Goa twice and have had the privalage of eating this dish in the beach shacks you can find scattered along the shores.
The Vindaloo I was presented with at the Ma Goa was every bit as good as the above, as were the other dishes.
My shared starter was the Borrego Pankhwalla,
the lamb was tender, with a spicy kick, and accompanied by a cooling sweet yoghurt dip. A clever combination and pleasing to the palette.
Other dishes included Potatoes, Okra and also Black Eyed Beans, all of which appeared and tasted freshly prepared.
